Suzanne Stankard Chief Study: Woven Textiles 

Instinctively I am drawn to ancient, primitive and nomadic cultures, and am inspired by the simplicity of colour and imagery which surrounds them. These influences play a crucial role in my fabric designs, which are produced with today's lifestyles in mind. The functional blankets which I have created, incorporate an understanding of the chosen yarns properties, their reaction to each other, and manipulation. This identification of yarns has enabled me to weave blankets which provide warmth, are tactile and comfortable, and classic in design and colour.
