Richard Booth Chief Study: Printed Textiles

The order of nature is an important ingredient in my work. I am fascinated by the detail of the world, the accidental, the mundane, the pleasure of observation is a constant source of inspiration. My work is an emotional dialogue with the environment and the viewer expressed through the creation of mark, texture and colour. I am intrigued and inspired by artists who use nature and place as an important element of their work. Artists such as the Doyle family, Richard Long, Robert Natkin, Christo, Paul Klee, Mark Rothko, Nicolas de Stael. My working processes involve the expression of place and emotion through colour and abstract values and I am fascinated by the possibilities of the creative discourse to both control and respond to accidental occurrences in my pursuit of beauty.
