Harriet Appleby Chief Study: Constructed Textiles

The intangibility of objects on a misty horizon, the merging of disciplines, gender and reality/virtual reality. This blurring, both visual and conceptual, is at the heart of my work, where knitting and feltmaking techniques are merged together, and where cloth merges with fibre and yarn. The characteristic raw edges given by felt are reflected in the knitwear, whilst knitted fabric becomes inelastic and print-like as it is fused into the felt. Visual inspiration has come from on site moorland landscape studies.
