Corinne Webb Chief Study: Woven Textiles

My inspiration for my major project comes from architecture. My work in the past has involved looking at buildings particularly the disused factories in Ancoats, North Manchester. I was inspired by the regimented geometrics of New York skyscrapers. From the two different types of architecture all my designs were generated. The colour inspiration came from the inside of a factory in Ancoats, the way the factory was aging and decaying was perfect for the colour feel I wanted for my collection. The colour in the collection is rich but quite muted with a strong colour that features in all of the designs. The design collection as a whole is contemporary but has an organic/rustic feel. I felt that it was important that my collection was versatile enough to work in a range of modern interiors, and I feel I have achieved my goal.
