Emma Bithell is part of Technical Services who support all Programmes in the Faculty of Art & Design.
Emma studied Business & Finance, graduating from the University of Westminster with an HND. Whilst studying for her HND, she developed her passion for Art at night school at the Heatherley School of Art. Upon leaving London, Emma moved to study in Sheffield gaining a BA in Fine Art from Shelffield Hallam University, specialising in Photography.
Moving to the United States in 1994, Emma joined Tom Upton Photography in the San Francisco Bay Area where she developed her photographic expertise in a professional arena. Working closely with creative professionals, shooting and creating a variety of images from life to still life, on location and in the Studio. Emma's photography experience is wide-ranging including traditional and digital processes.
In 1998 Emma returned to the UK where she joined AppleCentre Manchester as an Apple Macintosh Support Specialist. A subsequent promotion, lead her to managing the Technical Support Service, supporting creative clients throughout the NorthWest. Working under pressure to tight deadlines, Emma developed a high quality support facility in a customer-focused environment.
Wanting to return to more creative surroundings, in 2004, Emma gained the post as Senior Technician in Digital Media at the University of Central Lancashire. Emma worked directly with staff and students supporting Programmes in the Department of Design.
In 2005, Emma returned to a management role with the Manchester Metropolitan University, working as a Technical Services Manager with the Media Team in the Faculty Art & Design. Working closely with the Technical Group Manager, Emma manages the media-based resources, working with 22 Technicians across 4 buildings in the Faculty.
