Resources

The Manchester School of Art is equipped with a wide variety of resources for students, combining traditional media with the most modern digital facilities.

Both PCs and Apple Macs are available throughout the School of Art, with software for multimedia design, CAD, video editing, animation, visualisation and large format digital printing.

The University Library has one of the best and largest collections of art and design material in the country.

Art materials, fabrics and consumables can be purchased from the "A4 & More" and fabric stores in the Chatham Building.

In the School of Art there are photography studios, darkrooms and film processing facilites, dedicated computer suites for animation capture, video and sound editing, and an AV store where camcorders, lighting, digital cameras and other audio-visual equipment can be borrowed.

There are facilities for printmaking, bookbinding, letterpress, screenprinting and printing on textiles.

Colour and large format printers are located in the studio areas.

Located on the first floor of the Art School Building.

The Visual Resources Centre is based in the Grosvenor building. The collections are available to all staff and students for lectures, tutorials and research purposes, subject to copyright restrictions.

Workshops for wood, plastics, foam, metal, ceramics and glass.

Guidance for students annd staff wishing to exhibit work in Manchester School of Art gallery spaces.

The Manchester School of Art is committed to recycling as much workshop and general waste as possible to reduce its environmental impact.
