The Manchester School of Art is equipped with a wide variety of resources for students, combining traditional media with the most modern digital facilities.

Digital Media

The School of Art has specialist PC and Apple Mac computer suites for multimedia design, CAD, video editing, animation, visualisation and large format digital printing.

Library and Special Collections

The University Library has one of the best and largest collections of art and design material in the country.

Material Stores

Art materials and consumables can be purchased from stores in the Cavendish, Chatham and Grosvenor buildings.

Photography, Video and Sound Resources

In the School of Art there are photography studios, darkrooms and film processing facilites, dedicated computer suites for animation capture, video and sound editing, and an AV store where camcorders, lighting, digital cameras and other audio-visual equipment can be borrowed.

Print Resources

There are facilities for printmaking, bookbinding, letterpress, screenprinting, printing on textiles as well digital printing.

Visual Resources Centre

The Visual Resources Centre is based in the Cavendish building. The collections are available to all staff and students for lectures, tutorials and research purposes, subject to copyright restrictions.
