Sylvia Waltering is an artist working with photography, text, installation and the artist book. Her book and installation work often involves domestic objects and (fictional) collections, exploring their narrative possibilities.
Through her photographic work Waltering focuses on investigating and establishing internal relationships between a place or landscape and existing traditions, identity and culture. Space and landscape are perceived as a text selected and constructed by society. Her images suggest cultural allegories, symbolisms and historical references contained within everyday, mundane and literal places.
Waltering’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and her artist’s books are held in both private and public collections in the UK an abroad.
