Radical Obsolescence
A research initiative founded in 2009 by Pavel Büchler with Ian Rawlinson and David Osbaldeston, with the participation of graduates from the MA Fine Art programme and other external parties.The overall agenda of Radical Obsolescence is a creative and critical exploration of the ‘practically useless’, guided by the belief that artists are good at squeezing the last drop of meaning from technologies, materials and processes outdated by the dynamics of technological innovation, the priorities of commerce and critical fashion.
