Teach at MMU as a 0.5 Lecturer in Contemporary Film & Video, currently engaged with practice in moving image, installation and photography. Have worked as a film programmer, freelance artist, filmmaker and editor. Other work has included teaching on a variety of courses such as MA Media Arts, BA (Hons) Photography, BA (Hons) Animation with Illustration, BSC (Hons) Media Technology
Working as 'Birkbeck & Duffy' in collaboration with the sound artist Eimer Birkbeck and solo artist.
Our recent projects involve investigations of narrativity through place, space sound and image including a one year residency in Barrow-in-Furness Cumbria with Artgene. Offshore, which was concerned with maritime narratives and experiences.
Solo Practice includes tower blocks, Tv Towers and the Urban Peripheral, kids toys, Apocalyptic landscapes, Elizabethan Alchemists & Archduke Ferdinand - and a recent large scale venture concerned with Ruined Landscapes - manmade and ecological disasters.
Current work includes a themed series exploring apocalypse as capitalist anxiety from previous and current sites of volcanic eruption and the wastelands of urban landfill through the Indonesian Archipelago.
