Helen Felcey coordinates the MA Design Programme within Manchester School of Art.

Helen studied 3D Design at the Art School, before competing an MA in Ceramics at Cardiff School of Art in 2001. Since then, she has worked both in education and as a practicing artist, exhibiting nationally and internationally. Recent exhibitions include, ‘Pairings’ at The Special Collections Gallery,(MMU);‘Helen Felcey/Carina Ciscato’, Blas & Knada, Stockholm;‘Pots for Light’, Gallery Besson, London.

Recent collaborative exhibitions & projects, such as ‘Pairings’ at the Art school have defined new directions in her educational and artistic practice. In May 2012 Helen co-organised 'Pairings: Conversations, Collaborations, Materials' with Alice Kettle. This was an International Conference at Manchester School of Art which explored subjects related to collaborative practice in a craft, design and art environment.

Since 2008, Helen has been Chair of the National Association for Ceramics in Higher Education. During this time, NACHE has worked in close partnership with British Ceramics Biennial to stage a series of new exhibitions entitled ‘FRESH’. The partnership with the Biennial forms a new important platform for the advocacy for sustaining ceramics in higher education. FRESH 2012, exhibited the work of 40 UK graduates from Ceramics in HE.

Helen is currently implementing the Crafts Council 'Firing Up' scheme at Manchester School of Art. The scheme is supporting local schools in using clay creatively and confidently, optimising its educational value for students and creating sustainable local links.
