Top facts

  • A flexible course enabling you to select from a variety of art and design specialist units and tailor your programme of study to suit your employment needs or personal circumstances.
  • You will be taught in part, alongside full-time students, whilst also having tutorial support as a part-time student.

You will study

Your first year will enable you to develop a broad skill base in visual research and creative thinking. Following this, each year of study will be divided into two parts: developing your skills; and the LABs.

For the first part of the year you will choose an area of specialist study from the disciplines on offer, and over the duration of the programme you can opt to study further disciplines from the specialist units.

During the second half of the year you will work in groups in a LAB, giving you the opportunity to work collaboratively with students at a range of levels and disciplines. The LAB will be sponsored by a company, organisation or individual practitioner who will set a live brief and will bring together your specialist expertise and knowledge to create innovative solutions.

A professional and contextual studies programme runs throughout the course to support your studies and aspirations for employment. Opportunities to support workbased learning will be created for you if you wish to study partly in the workplace.
