MA
Contemporary Curating
1 year (48 weeks) full time or 2 years part time (96 weeks)
This programme explores the notion of exhibition practice in contemporary culture, and considers curatorial methods and strategies in the context of the gallery and museum, as well as in projects such as biennials, public art works and commissions. The MA is interdisciplinary in its structure and content and considers ways in which different kinds of art works and projects are mediated through the exhibition process. You will examine issues in curating from the context of the spaces and places in which it occurs as well as through the shifting relationship between artist-institution-curator-critic/writer. The programme explores the potential of curating as a subject which can be applied to different forms of knowledge, - in this way the role of the curator could be seen as a mediator of art works; objects and information.
